I never take it out of 4wd. I only use it on the farm. I will put in 2wd and try to move some dirt on Tuesday and see if it makes a difference.

rear end differential might not be sturdy enough for that heavy load.

Does it do it in 2wd or only in 4 wd? If it only happens in 4wd the linkage for the engagement needs lubed or adjusted. The dogs that engage the 4wd are spring loaded and if not fully engaged will jump under load.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner! Thanks OldGinTractors! I was at the farm yesterday and moved the lever to 2WD and drove it a few minutes and then pulled the lever up hard to put it back into 4WD and the popping never happened again. What a relief.

Your welcome! Be sure to look under the floorboard, I think there are some grease zerks on some of those linkages.
