I'm wanting to get a log splitter to use behind my T2220. I have virtually zero experience with a 3 pt. log splitter so I felt this was a perfect place to inquire.

Here's the link: CountyLine SplitMaster 3-Point Hitch Log Splitter - 2153304 | Tractor Supply Company

Now the questions:

1. Do I need rear hydraulics added to my tractor? The specs for the log splitter say, "Includes closed spool kit for converting open center valves to closed center". Does this mean I could theoretically run it off the front hydraulics for my front end loader if the lines are long enough with nothing to add to my tractor now?

2. Would running a log splitter or anything similar be too abusive to the tractor? Would this get the hydraulics too hot over time?

3. I found a PTO driven hydraulic pump made for running log splitters and other similar items. Would this be a better alternative?

I use my 2220 for my part-time landscaping business. It takes care of me, I take care of it. The last thing I want to do is abuse it with splitting logs. But if it's not a big deal, this sure would be great for the waterstove this winter. :)

Thanks
