I did purchase and install the special Tyvar cutting edge and protective shoes. I was thinking If i shortened the top link it would tilt the unit forward a bit which would make it dig in more on the cutting edge. Right now it is perfectly level. The 2 guys from dealer came from the dealer and set it up for me.

I haven't used one of the inverted snow blowers but I would bet they are the same as the push type in regards to the angle. Keep it level or you will start loosing u-joints on the driveline. Adjust the skid shoes for height, never the angle. But in reality, if you are only getting 1/2" of snow left you should leave it alone, that is pretty dang good.

Hello and good morning OrangeMuscle,

Its best that you leave the snow blower as is set up as the augers will wear out.
If you had a front mount you would get a cleaner scrape but the skids and scraper
bar would wear out much to soon.

All the videos I see on Youtube, of those big tractors doing residential driveways with their inverted blowers, show them with rear scraper blades. They seem to scrape right down to the pavement and I'm sure if it caused damage those guys, doing hundreds of driveways per season, wouldn't be using them. Maybe call the seller and see what he says.

First real snow this weekend. 6-7 inches. Tried out the new 74" Farm King pull blower. Was almost done when I broke shear pin. Got a plie of gravel/stone built up on the final pass of the drive. Now blaming the blower for that. Did a good job for the first time ever using a tractor and blower.

I also have my rear blade mounted on the FEL with an SSQA adapter plate. Used it to good effect to back blade near the house and pole barn where the blower could not get close enough. Also used it to address some of the windrows from the blower.

Both make a nice set up for my use. Best of both worlds with both the blade and blower.

Not sure what type of surface you have, but another issue with tilting it forward is the augers can fling gravel forward pelting the back of the tractor.

I have new pavement. I suppose I will leave it since Id rather have a little bit of snow left behind rather than to abuse and stress the drive shaft.

Also, is there any harm in keeping the snowblower on when you lift it up to back up to reposition for the next row? I do not know if it is only supposed to be on when its actually on the ground?

Making or buying a rear blade for your inverted blower will be a big improvement.

It will pull snow back from doorways and buildings without having to turn your tractor around to use the front blade.

It can just hang from chains although I find being able to put down pressure on it hydraulically is nice. it can be a second step once you start using the blade.

Leave the pto on. Starting and stopping it is just unnecessary wear on the pto clutch.

It better to turn off the Power Take Off and then restart the Power Take Off at near idle speed as you will be backing up slowly at a much slower engine speed and you need to concentrate on controlling the tractor then reengaging the Power Take Off before making the second pass.

You also need to tilt the spout control downward to reduce the snow spray that you are creating with it as well.
You do not have to have it fully upright as the snow spray can and will become so great that you will have difficulty
seeing everything and if the wind changes you may be blinded while driving forward and that is not something
you want to have happen.

You can safely leave the spout control at the horizontal position while working if there is very little wind blowing as you
are not trying to stack the blown snow above the tractor height. if there is a high wind blowing you simply lower the
spout to either side below the horizontal position and just continue to clear the snow.

The more time you spend in the seat with the snow blower the more familiar you will become with how to operate it and avoid
any issues with operating the tractor as your use of the spout control will become second nature to keep the snow spray volume
at a bare minimum.

Once you have the chute and spout control set you do not have to worry about looking back constantly either as it will be very
distracting while you are clearing snow and you will have less time to react if you start sliding.

When you have wet heavy snow at times in the winter and in the early spring you will need to slow down raise the spout above horizontal and just
crawl along to cast the snow to either side to get rid of it. Heavy wet snow is an energy hog for a 2 stage snow blower of any type due to the gear reduction and open auger design of a 2 stage snow blower.

Just leave it on the whole time you are blowing snow. No need to stress the PTO clutch by turning it off and back on.
