Rear lights

Thanks, that works. Now my next question, how do you power this badboy? How and where is it spliced into the system? Did you put in a switch? Is this electrical system on the tractor large enough to handle 2 lights? Thanks, Rich.

Great idea about the Aiken Light! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Tom -
If you want to catch up on what we've been doing with magnets, you might want to visit the saga of the Chalkley Cup and also the ROPS Rack, both of which were recently summarized in this post.

You won't believe the holding power of these magnets until you try them. In addition to the cup and the rack, I recently attached my SMV placard to the ROPS with a pair of #42's (see attachment). I bounced the tractor around pretty good to test it out, and the placard didn't budge.

I'm also experimenting with a couple of #39's. If you used these puppies to hold your lights on, you'd probably break them trying to pry them off again. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif Maybe I'll use them to carry a wrecking bar. They're certainly powerful enough.

Whatever you do, be sure to keep us posted. And, of course, we'd love to see pictures. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Harv, I had checked out the Chalkey Cup and magnetic posts. And I checked out the websites referred to. All great ideas! I've already told all my neighbors about the Chalkey Cup to hold their favorite beverages. We're putting together an order for magnetics this weekend. You guys are a riot! I really enjoy checking in when I can and always get great advice as well as a laugh or two.

If you buy the lights from your dealer they come with the mounting kit and wire harness. They cost about $65.00 which is alot but you can hook the lights up in about 20 minutes. I bought one and its round and painted Kubota orange with gray mounting bracket to match the rops.

Thought I'd let everyone know how the lights turned out, now that I've had a few chances to use them. I mounted two 55watt halogens on the rops about 1 foot from the top, on the outside edge so I can fold down the ROPs without hitting the lights, using self tapping sheet metal screws through the mounting plates that came with the lights. The lights came with a lighted switch which I mounted on the top edge of the tool box behind the back seat. For rear lighting I bought a 3" X 5" JD light that has it's own switch on the light. I removed the hazard sign and enlarged the bottom hole the holds the sign on the bracket so that the light and it's wires could fit in it, then reattached the bracket and the hazard sign. I ran black wire loom with black cable ties down both sides of the ROPs and through the holes that were there from the factory in the fenders and ran the loom across the back under the tool box to the factory female plug under the left fender and left just the two fuse holders exposed under the fender for access. I'm happy to say this works great and it looks like they all were put on at the factory. When using the loader at night the halogens really light things up above the loader and they are on swivel brackets so if I need to see to the sides I can just pivot the light. The rear light throws plenty of light and a wide pattern for plowing and it's nice to be able to turn it off when I just want the front halogens on. I'll try and get some photos of the set up on here soon.

Should have said the rear light is mounted on the bracket below the hazard sign.
