That's the way I think my 47" Deere blower worked. Also being able to use other attachments on the front PTO adds somewhat to the decision whether to get a front blower or a rear one. Deere's can run brooms ,blades, etc. too.

Turns out my new B2789 snowblower can be mounted at the rear OR the front! (You just need to buy the quick hitch and extar PTO shaft/part if you want to mount it on the front.) So, for those of you who really want a front-mounted model, you DON'T have to buy the wimpy 2750 model after all.:thumbsup:
Meanwhile, yesterday we took off the backhoe (with my new BXpanded.com backhoe dolly - thanks, Harry!), put on my new 3-point hitch (took it out of the box for the first time since I got it 2 years ago!), and mounted the new B2789 blower. Not easy! (Except for the backhoe removal, which was amazingly simple and straightforward.) Will post photos later.

What's the price of it? The 2750 was posted elsewhere here and it doesn't look that wimpy though. Last week I sprang for the Deere 59" front blower. It's a nice set up, glad I went with it. (It's snowing here!)

That's great info for me....if the rear mount doesn't work out for me I'll just get the front parts ( I guess I can do that for the B series as well) I would have thought there would be a PTO speed problem.....

The price was 1793 plus tax, and the see my post with photos comparing the two earlier in this thread re: the relative sturdiness of the B2789 rear-mount versus the 2750 front-mount. The difference is like night and day to me!
It's a different design but I can see why you say the rear blower is beefier. My Deere is beefy and it has skid shoes which I like for my gravel driveway.
I just did some work where I had to reach behind me to do some BH work. My neck and back got tired of it very fast and I'm in good shape. Going backwards down my 650 foot driveway along a culvert is something I'll pay extra not to do!

OK, as promised, here are a couple of photos of the installation of my B2789 snowblower. First, taking off the backhoe and installing the 3-point hitch for the first time, and then, the blower itself. (Warning - you need to get your own hitch pin for the top link where it attaches to the blower. The 3-point hitch comes with one for attaching the top link to the tractor, but not for the other end - and make sure you get one that is (a) 3/4" in diameter, and (b) long enough.)
It was a learning experience for a first-timer to be sure, but I think that next time will be a cinch! (It helps to have a floor jack so you can adjust the 3-point hitch arms so as to make the blower level from side to side.) It was also a bit of a surprise to find that the grease nipples had been painted over at the factory (had to scrape the paint off), and so I am suspicious that they never put any grease in at the factory. (So don't forget to grease everywhere they tell you before using it.) I'm also glad the dealer cut the drive shaft to length for me, as it seems to be a bit of a job to get it right.
The instructions for the blower, overall, were not very detailed, but we got through it. We'll see how it works soon enough!
BTW, the one photo showing a receiver hitch is the hitch I got from BXpanded.com, which fits great. I will be using it in the spring (after the blower and 3-point hitch come off) to pull my (3000 lb.) pontoon boat out of its parking spot. It is parked on a slope, on somewhat sandy soil, so we will see if my little 2700 lb. BX25 will do the job without spinning the tires!

I did not see model numbers on the web. Did you get the 51" high capacity instead of the 50" unit? On the B they show both available on the front and only the high capacity 51 on the rear. I also dont understand about the different pto speeds....does it spin that much faster on the front - I would not think so but unless the extension has a reducer then it might.

The model number is B2789, it is 51" and yes, it certainly looks heavy duty. PTO speeds I don't know about. The rear is 540, and the front-mount parts are listed in the manual as only available in the U.S. for some strange reason. (The blower is actually built in Quebec.)

This was intended for the B series but it will work on my BX22. It came with the quick hitch subframe. Unfortunately it wouldn't fit the BX22, so I took the gearing off that REDUCED the speed of the Auger & Impeller from the input speed of 2400 to 540 RPM & PHD'd it right before last years "DC Snowmageddon" 50" of snow on 12 driveways & 2500ft of road, backwards. :confused2: 10 hrs later I was done & the neighborhood hero. I was unsure the My BX could handle it BC Kubota said it couldn't be done. I can't wait for this winter. My only gripe is that my face got cold. I didn't have time this summer to make/buy a cab, maybe next year. Something you might want to do is upgrade your alternator & install rear facing lights. I just got the alternator kit, but haven't had the time to install it yet, Soon, real soon.

Trafficman, Pat's system seems to be for a rear-mount, not a front-mount. My blower is already on the rear, and people were asking how it can go on the front.

It won't fit a BX22, but I believe it will it should fit the BX24 & 25, and some of the B series IIRC. I'll get the numbers off of it tonight & post tomorrow. It's nothing but scrap to me since it won't fit, too long, holes in the wrong place, mounting brackets in the wrong place, etc. I even got pallet I'll put it on just get t out of my way.

you can buy one of the stihl hard hats with the ear muffs and brush guard screens that flip up to block the snow , and you can purchase hard hat liners to put inside the hard hat to keep your head warm.

So did anyone ever mount the b2789 on the front? I'm looking at getting one now for the rear and knowing it cam go on the front will make my decision that much easier! Pics would be great if you have them, o and part numbers, did someone say it was only available in the US?
