Rear weight bracket

Thought I would share with you the rear weight bracket that my Daughter's Boyfriend built for me. It started from a carry all I bought from Quality. It will hold 8 100 lb suitcase weights. I will only be using 5 100 lb weights. The bracket by its self weights around 100 lbs.

Were the photos taken in your shop? Was that a wide belt sander in the background? Impressive!

Yes that is my shop & the machine is a 38" Woodmaster drum sander.

Hmmmm... 38" Woodmaster drum sander... If my memory serves me, you're just a couple of hours away from South Bend. I'll have to file that away in permanent memory /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Sadly, since the birth of our second son (now two) my wood shop had been collecting more dust than it's been making /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

This year should be a turning point for us though, he's already becoming more independant. Maybe next winter I'll get back into it.

Woodworking started out as a hobby. It is now what I do for a living. I really miss the hobby part. I seems that anytime I go to the shop there is a sold job waiting to be done. But then that is how I am paying for my tractor. That is now my hobby. Good luck with your boys & your woodworking. I like your signature. How do you do it.

Woodworking's got to be a pretty satisfying vocation Chris. I'm a bit envious but I think I'll keep mine on the hobby level for some time. Besides, when I do find time in the shop my wife has a long list of projects to handle before I ever considered selling something.

Ah, signatures... There has been a lot said on how to make them. One of us should get ambitious sometime and put a new FAQ on the board covering the topic. I've had my share of practice (and problems), so I'll give you the gyst of it (at least for a Windows platform, for Mac ask Harv).

Start with one you like, feel free to mine. Copy the .gif file to your machine. Open it in MS-photoeditor and resave as a .bmp file. Then open the .bmp in MS-paint. Edit away in paint (zoom helps a lot). Paint only adds text in "normal" zoom. When you get what you like resave from Paint as a .bmp file. Open that file in photoeditor and resave using file type .gif (don't make the mistake I did and simply add the .gif extension). Once you have the .gif file attach it to a post to the forum. After it's been added to the forum server, copy the shortcut from that post. Go to your profile and stick it in your signature block surrounded by the "image" tags (see FAQ screen). To check your handiwork, create a post and preview it. The signature should show up in the preview. If not, there are plenty of wise signature drivers out here to lend a hand.
