As John showed they sure do make them. I've got 600 lbs. of weight on my wheels and it does help quite a bit. Beats the heck out of dragging around a ballast box.

Yup, they got 'em. But, if you (or a friend) has the equipment, you may look at making your own like this.

Thank you John!

Cowboydoc, does the weight seem to make the machine sluggish,do they stickout far from the rim,and are they hard to remove if need be?

CV Hoss,Very cool fabricating job, looks like it works well and didn't cost too much, thanks!

The reason for the question is I'm buying a 110( I believe the wheels are the same as a 4600) and I will be removing the hoe quite often to use a harley rake and the rake definetly doesn't weigh enough to keep the rear on the ground when using the loader,so I'm looking for an alternative to filling the tires,I really appreciate the help and please keep it coming!

I have been looking into the same situation for my 4100. I talked with the local dealer here in Texas and they suggest filling the tires with water and anti freeze for added weight. Well Im working on that in my mind, I have turf tires and considering the movement of water even filled with air in the tire, is this the smart thing to do??/w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif =

More answers?

Tags,
If you put the rim to the inside I have three on each side that line up perfectly with the outside of the tire no problem. As far as power goes you don't even notice the difference with them on. I've never done anything where I ran out of power before I ran out of traction. You won't have any problems with them.

Cowboydoc,
If you put the rim to the inside?Do you mean that the wheels are installed so they are at their widest stance? If that is what you mean then I understand, and the weights should work well for me IF the 110's wheels are the same as a 4600,also how hard is it to install and remove the weights? Thanks for the info!

Chris...

What is going to be your primary use for the JD 110?

It appears to be a substantial machine... I'd fill the rears to get max stability and bh/loader capacity out of it... /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

On the 4600 they don't have to be at their widest with the rims to the inside. Mine are because of all the work I do with it. I will tell you it is a pain in the butt to have to take them off and on. I can do it myself but it's a job for sure. You have to line the bolts up and hold that 100 lb. weight up there at the same time. Then you have to get it lined up just right too. But I never mess with my wheel alignment so once it's done it's done.

John,
You see, here is where I have the problem.....when I talked to the JD engineer he said the machine was at the correct weight w/the hoe on,but he would suggest filling the rears w/out it,so my dilema is this,I harley rake 60% of the time, and use the hoe 40%,at least this was the way w/the L35,but I think that since the 110 is more machine and sooooo much smoother that may change, when using the rake its just not heavy enough,it was BARELEY for the L35 and the 110 has quite a larger loader capacity,I'm not against fillin' the tires it just seems like it would be a drag to get a flat and I don't know much about it compared to wheel weights.

I just had a mixture of water and anti-freeze put in my rear tires Im not for shure how much weight it added but it will deffinately pull my new 6' cammond 2c2 box blade with the rippers all the way down,as befroe it would pull it and then just spin. but not any more.

TxBillyed, I looked at foam/rubber filled tires instead of the anti-freeze filled tires and decided that I could just use my old set of Universal Weights like the Kubota owner did and make my own wheel weights. that way I avoid havng to worry about changing those heavy tires to cut my lawn or whatever would require me to have to balance the tractor while removing the tires. Let me tell you , they evidently are very, very, heavy when loaded. Also others on this message board have indicated that filling and draining the tires is not really fun. Just my input - Go with the wheel weights - seems to be less of a hassle.

I talked to a tire dealer on Friday that will fill tires w/antifreeze and water and he told me that it would add about 6 to 700lbs per tire and it would cost about $400 to do it at my location, but I think that may be a bit much stress on the axels when the hoe is on,he did say that they could fill them part way,but he also said that not fillin' em' all the way was not the correct way.I don't know why it would matter if it was filled all the way or part way, anyone know the reason??

I agree Nuru. The filled tires are great until you have a flat. Then you have to spend $200 just to fix a flat. Plus there are times when I don't want the extra weight. With filled tires you don't have that luxury. With the weights you can completely control the weight and when the weight is on.
