Reasonable price on a Wood BH6000

I Purchased my Woods BH6000 about 3 months ago and when I did I called 10 dealers for the best price. The pricing ranged from $7200.00 to $5000.00 and I ended up paying $5000.00 with subframe and 9" trenching bucket and that is without installation. I thought that since I am in the middle of a large agriculture area and have so many dealers around that I could get the $4000.00 I hear them getting it for, but it was not so.

I don't regret doing it, and use the BH a lot, I have to admit after looking at the BH on the BX23, and looking at the brouchures and the improvements on the BH on the BX24, woods still has a much better BH.

I concur on the outrageous prices on everything in the San Joaquin valley ... if you can find somebody that wants to talk to you. Where did you wind up buying, Kern Machinery?
I don't really recall complaints about the BX22-23 hoes nor comments that Woods was appreciably better but, it sounds like you've thought about it a lot more than me. What did you find about the 'bota hoes that turned you off ... or about Woods that was a big improvement, just out of curiousity.
Cheers!

Thats the $6000 I am being quoted locally at current exchange. For me to truck something up, pay taxes and brokerage fees, even if I got one at $4k US, I wouldn't really be winning. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif )</font>

Oh yeah, I agree with you completely! I was only giving a quote for comparision, not suggesting that you buy it here and ship it up. Heck, the trucking on that would probably eat up the difference alone! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I ended up buying it at Garton Tractor in Tulare. I didn't buy the BH6000 because I didn't like the Kubota BH, it was that I decided to get a BH after I bought the BX2230 and it was a cheaper route than trading up. Once I got the BH6000 I could compare and realized that there was a few advantages to having it over the Kubota BH, small advantages they may be, but advantages just the same. The bigger advantages are the curved boom which does make a difference, the buckets are larger in capacity and built much better, and you have more sizes of buckets to choose from, the swing is 150deg vs Kubotas 140deg which is a big plus (I wish it was 180deg however). The Woods BH has more power 2200lbs vs 1936 of digging force for bucket and 1180 vs 1137 of digging force for dipper. The swivel seat works really well on the Woods and the few times I tried it on the Kubota it was tricky at best, but I guess its what you get used to. The woods has hydraulic cushining on the boom swing vs the rubber stoppers on Kubota. And the woods uses common parts on all the hudraulics and the quality is good so when it comes time for repair the costs will be lower.

Some changes for the BX24 BH are a little better angle of departure, a curved boom, rubber boots at the bottom of the levers, hoses have been routed through the boom, and more legroom. All of the changes in the BX24 bh, with the exception of the angle of departure, are already part of the woods bh.

The two negatives for the Woods bh is that the angle of departure is a couple of degrees less than kubota, and it does make a difference if you trailer the machine much, and the big one you hear about the most is that the ROPS on the bx2230 is not as tall or wide as the bx23/bx24, so when using the bh on the bx2230 quarters are cramped, well I haven't experienced this, but I am only 5' 6", if I was 6' plus I would probably not like the ROPS with a bh on a bx2230. I do however like the smaller ROPS on the bx2230 over the ROPS on the BX23/BX24 for everything else.

I have rambled long enough. Both bh are comparable for what most people will use them for, the advantages are small, but worth considering. The difference between buying a bx23 and a bx2230 plus bh6000 is about $700.00 with the bx2230 plus bh6000 being higher, and the difference would even be more if you had the bh installed. Would I do it again, probably, but it would be a coin toss.

But' it's being installed on tractors with the wrong ROPS which isn't acceptable to me at all.

Cool, thanks for the comparison.
FYI, unless you can get SuperUDT locally, if you plan to use it, the only place I have found it is at Hanford Equipment.
Cheers!

In your personal opinion, which is NOT shared by everyone. There is nothing wrong with the 2230's ROPS for most users.

This is done to accomodate very tall people using a backhoe, remember its a universal ROPS, it wouldn't surprise me if the spec is to accomodate people up to 7' tall.

I purchased a BH6000 for my BX2200 back in July for $4,700 USD. (from Woodbury Tractor here in CT). That included installation and pick-up/delivery. I called 4 local dealers and prices ranged as high as $6,200.

Overall I'm very happy with the unit. The ROP has not been an issue (I'm 6' 200lbs) as the seat slides back on a track and my head is well in front of the ROP.

Whatever you choose the BH sure beats a pick and shovel...
