2Lane that would be a model 96/22 built from '96 through '09. I have never run across one, but I am always looking....nice rifle.
The 10/22 magnums? They made 'em from '98 to 2006. I don't own one but they have almost a cult following that have been begging Ruger to start production again. I doubt that it will happen and I would guess it was a matter of sales...roughly 45,500. Compare that to the 5 or 6 million 10/22 long rifles which are still selling like hotcakes.
Well, after trying to find a Ruger 10/22 and having no luck, I decided to get a Savage semi-auto with a 3x9 scope that I did find. Put my name on the list for a 10/22 (ETA when H*LL freezes over). Almost got a Henry lever action, but really wanted a semi-auto, and my BIL just got a Henry so thought it would be more fun to have something different for when we get together to plink.
Now to find some shells......
A good gun for your job would be a .17 hmr or .17 hornet. You have less pelt damage and more killing power. I love my hmr.

If u want a very nice lever action 22 go for a Marlin 39A. They are a true classic!!!

Nice! I had the opportunity to buy a Mountie a few years ago. Wish I had! The 39A is a fine rifle. Annie Oakley even used one!
I bought the same gun I think, Model 93 bull barrel with accu-trigger with a 3x9 Bushnell scope for $269 in .17HMR. I wanted one of the lever action Henry's in .22 Mag but couldn't bring myself to spent $400 on it. I have the rifle zeroed at 150 yards and it is dead on. Shells aren't too bad at $11 a box last year now $15 but I still have some 22 mag that have $4.95 on the sticker that I shoot in my 22 mag semi-auto Grendel pistol. I have over 1000 rounds of .22 LR in my gun safe and haven't tried to buy any since the Obama scare so I don't know if they are scarce here or not. There is a Remington ammunition factory here so we may be able to get some easier than other parts of the country.Yup got a .17 hmr savage with the accue trigger and bull barrel. Sweet shooting and so much fun.
