Receiver for hitch on Box Blade?

I was thinking about welding a receiver hitch on the back of my box blade. I use the box blade for ballast, so it is always on for loader work and it would be nice to have a tow ball on the back. I can't see any big problems with this, does anyone have any thoughts? I will reinforce the back of the box with some 3/8 plate and mount in the center. My box blade is about 500 pounds and I don't expect to put more than about 500 pounds of tonge weight on, just moving a 14' utility trailer around my property. My 3 pt capacity is about 1600 lbs 24" back, so I think this should be OK. This coud affect my ability to back blade, but I can't see this being much of an issue. I also understand the danger of negative tonge weight, I will use chains if there is a chance of this. Any other negatives I am not thinking of (before I make this somewhat permenant)?

I think I like the idea of the slip on receiver for the FEL described in a recent post. Quick to take on and off and a lot easier to move a trailer with something on the front.

I liked the front mount also. That may be a future project, but I'm not sure how to make it fit tightly and make it work with and without the toothbar installed. Plus, I can leave the rear mount on at all time, and the FEL can't really be used with the receiver installed in the bucket. Actually, I guess it could, but I wouldn't.

I bolted one on mine, made an L bracket out of 1/2 X 4 and bolted it to the back.

Clamp-on bucket receiver

I bolted the trailer hitch ball on the top center of my FEL, bucket hooks on the outside of FEL and hitch ball in center. Works like a champ for me but I don't try to climb mountains or extremely heavy loads but so far it has worked great and makes moving trailers around real easy having it in front.

I have a 5x8 5,000 pd rated hydraulic dump trailer which my little BX23 moves around fine this way.

You can buy the 2 inch reciever tube at TSC. Just weld it on the top middle of the box blade and slide in a hitch when you need one.

This is done. I got the receiver at TSC ($15), a little steep, but not too bad. I welded it onto a peice of 1/2" plate and then welded the plate onto the back of the BB. I also welded a catch hook on the top of the receiver. It works great, very easy to move a trailer without ever getting out of the seat.
