looks like time for a rock sled.... hit the old local scrap yard or like, and see if you can find a old metal car hood or like. flip it upside down (slick side down on the ground) run some chains / bolts into some corners. for dragging the rock sled / hood around. drill a couple extra holes and put in some U bolts or like to attach hooks from straps or chains into, to hold individual rocks on the sled.

the old hood going to get beat up pretty badly but, it is not meant to way 100's of lbs and lots of re-reinforcement, just a piece of metal that hopefully holds up long enough to get things moved about, then back to the junk yard it goes.

get 2 to 4 logs, most likely 4x4's or i should say 6x6's (2nd's) from local hardware store (2nd's look like crud but cheap) toss them down in the creak. and use them as a ramp, to pull rock sled, with rock on it, up and out.

ya getting there!

i am sure you been at your wits end's a few times, running out of power / traction / running into pressure reliefs. and having to come up with some inventive ways to move various rocks. it would be pretty neat having a job for a couple weeks like that for experience, but i think i would hate having to deal with the rocks all the time LOL. just be safe moving the rocks around and know your limits.

Ryan:

I actually just scrapped a car but I had sold the hood off of it first, lol, I had PLANNED on saving it and took it off then some kid hit a deer and gave some $ for it so win win lol...

I DID get a LOT done this week with some great weather in all it made some good work but only an hour of work at a time because of work and classes.

took this pic yesterday along with some for dinner,

this years crop of Shittake mushrooms. good in sauces but a bit strong by themselves.

now back to the bridge to culvert repair.

Surface is all but filled in will need some time for settling out some but coming together good for this year.
For some reason my pics are MIA off my phone so will have to add those later.

As promised I added a couple photos of the progress, I ended up tossing the 2x8x10' old bridge boards back on top of the gravel just to get them out of access way to the areas I need to get yet.

here are the pics (so note by the length of the boards we are talking 25~30 feet across for this project.)

This is the last real hard spot to deal with, need few more yards of gravel and some bigger retaining rocks. Think I might pull out some of those smaller rocks in favor of a bottom layer of bigger rocks.

Knowing I wanted some bigger rocks I went and did some cleaning of one of my 3 rock piles the closest one to the bridge.

above is what it started out looking like,

below is what it looks like w bridge/culvert in background

looking back across w layer of old deck boards on top for now out of my access needs

more of a side view

hope you like it, for this year the temps are putting a hold on doing much more...

Well first winter is under the Bridge/Culverts now and our Spring Thaw is in full swing. Raining today and has been on/off for better part of a day. Culverts are running about 1/3 full & the 6" pipe is fully under water. It seems to be working well and the stones all held their spots so far. I've got a few pics of the runoff and the bend where I placed other rocks (post a before and after pics.) The 6" pipe has been mostly clogged by leaves and sticks on the 2 days I walked thru the mud over the last days but not hard only took a brush of a stick to knocks it free.

Above pic was taken yesterday, today it rained all day and water is higher by a few inches.

last fall is below of the same area.

Exit side flowing well out straight & low turbulence.

Exit side dry in fall below

And the corner area that was washing out the bank 20' upstream of culverts where I placed these rocks appears to be working to prevent the washout.

Same area when dry shortly after placement.
