recomended gear oil for front axle

I am looking for a recomendation for the type of gear oil to use in the front axle of my Kubota. The manual recomends UDT/SUDT or SAE 80 or 90 oil. The UDT is pretty thin for a gear oil and I can't find a straight SAE 80 or 90 oil. I was looking at a synthetic 75W90 type oil but I can't find one that mentions compatability with wet disk brakes. I need 5 quarts.

Any suggestions?

I am in Oklahoma, I estimate i will put 100 hours a year on the tractor, the manual recomends change every 400. I have been using it every day the last two weeks with temperatures about 100ºF. In winter probably won't use it below 25ºF.

You own a 2006 Kubota L2800 HST? Call the dealer and ask what they use. Call more than one dealer and compare notes. Buy Kubota fluids. Don't go cheap and buy generic fluids. Too nice and new a machine to short change yourself.

On the units that like UDT/SUDT.. I think i would use it. I know UTF type oils look thin.. and are.. but the add package is designed to run in gearboxes, final drives.. trannies.. and hydro systems.

NAPA carries any of the gear oils you listed.. 80/90/75w90syn etc.. So does walmart.

FYI.. I used UTF in my front axle on my ex-NH1920 as per the manual. Never had an issue with it..

I have a 5030 and just got back from the Dealer with supplies for the 50 hour service and they highly recommended using the Kubota 80w90 gear oil over the SUDT for the front axle. I called a second dealer in our area (NE PA) and they also recommended gear oil. I was a little reluctant but I went ahead and purchased the 80w90 for front axle and plan on changing this weekend.

Any other opinions?

You did your research. Go with it! And, in the end, it probably does not matter (unless you have really cold weather!!!!!!!!!!)

I know exactly what you mean!! When I was doing some investigating on my own..I called 3 different dealers...One in Oh..one in KY and one in NY..all 3 said they use UDT in the trannys and 80-90 in the front ends???
