Now, Wannabe, that is indeed good advice! Even though I'm a Vietnam vet, I am taking an Enhanced Carry course. Already talked to the old boy who does it. I've had the old Uncle training too, way back on the 1911 .45 (love those guns!), but I'm really a shotgun and rifle boy, never shot handguns as much as shotgun and rifle.

Boys, y'all are giving me some great advice all around! I'll be taking it to heart, and already have a few more guns to put on my list due to your recommendations.

LCP 380, very small and easy to carry, and you'll be more encouraged to carry more often over a larger handgun.

Have a Springfield Armory XDS in 45 but they are also chambered in 9mm. Have been very happy with mine and are in your price range plus they have a promotion now until end of year for free extra mags. and other goodies.

Selection also depends on how one wants to carry.
I have a lightweight snubby .38 in my pocket whenever I leave the house. Sometimes that's swapped out with a Ruger LCP (.380 ACP) which was purchased before the LC9 came out...otherwise I'd have bought the LC9 since I do like 9mm. I always use a pocket holster too.
When I carry a pistol in a waistband holster, it's a Glock 19. I'm not an inside the waistband guy...never found one that was comfortable.

I own 3 carry guns. The one that goes with me 99% of the time is the Ruger LCP 380. Very easy to carry and conceal.

My carry use to be .45. I now carry Trurus P111 G2 9mm.. Larger round than a 380 ,and cost less when you go shooting..
.. Buy which ever brand , caliber that's right for you

Yep, that was it, the Sigma!

Thanks, I figured someone would remember.
Dan

I have a Sigma .380. what a complete pile of poo. Its best feature is that as you shoot it the roll pin that holds the upper receiver to the lower walks out in an attempt to kill itself. Accuracy wise, you're better off throwing the whole weapon at what you're trying to hit than trying to shoot it as shots rattle off like bottle rockets. I was duped into buying it new in the nineties.

I have a LC9 that I absolutely hate. Haven't shot it in over a year. My go to Cary is a sig P232 "we the people" edition. . It's very unnoticeable to have on my belt and is very predictable to shoot.

I like the XDS too. Similar guns are the SW M&P Shield and the Glock 43. I carry a Ruger LCP in .380 in the summer and a Springfield XD sub compact whenever the weather permits some heavier clothing. I've been looking really hard at the three I just mentioned and will probably get one in the next few months. Also, as someone said earlier get a Cross Breed Holster. They are the MOST comfortable you will ever wear.
