Kioti DK35SE
Hi,

I am looking to get some ideas and recommendations from those that have some knowledge/experience with adding a plow to a tractor.

I have a 9 foot fisher plow which I want to build a QA setup for my Kioti DK35SE. Here are a couple ideas I have....

1.) Build a QA in such a way that it still utilizes the chain for floating. Then use front/rear hydraulic kit for plow hydraulics. This way I would not have any down pressure which isn't important but would be nice for areas such as back dragging in front of my garage doors.

2.) Build the QA so it is solid the triangular portion of the plow frame. This way I would have to use the float action of the FEL arms when plowing. Still utilizing the front/rear hydraulic kit for plow hydraulics. This way I would get the down pressure for those special areas.

Couple questions I can think of right off....

Will the second option take more wait of the front tires causing difficult steering?

Is anyone using the front/rear hydraulic kit for a plow? Do I need a bypass valve of some sort or can I get away with just plugging directly to the rams?

Is anyone using a 9 foot plow? I see many manufacturers selling up to 7 foot plows but no 8 or 9 that I can find. Does anyone think it is because it is to much for a tractor of this size? The 9 is all I have

Thanks for any ideas or recommendations you guys have.

-Mike

I think your unit is 61.6" W with the blade angled a 7' blade would work.

I have an 8ft.Curtis(old truck plow) Fel mounted with a SS plate on a L4240 Kubota.About 7000lbs with loaded tires. You can either float the plow or float the FEL not both.I built mine to float the plow and it works well.Mine has the third function to the front so I can't help with the hydraulics. My riser is fairly tall because I was going to make a boom pole to add to the SS plate. If you float the FEL you have the weight of the plow and FEL pushing down, maybe good for paved drives but not so good on dirt or gravel.

I have a 9' HLA 3000 plow on my LS, but the tractor weighs 10,000 lbs and is 88 hp. I really think a 9' plow is too much for your tractor. I had a DK35 and a 7' HLA 2000 plow and it was perfect. Floating the FEL makes for a too lite of front end and with a 9' blade you will just be pushed around.

IMHO if you could get someone to cut a foot off of each end and float it with the chain would make the best out of what you have.

Good luck!

Steering is a major problem with the blade angled (on a tractor). There is just too much "lever" out there in front of your steering axle. The tip of an angled blade is near 8' or more out beyond your front tires, and with a skim of snow under them, they have little steering effect against that leverage. Straight plowing I'd say go for it although 9' might be overdoing it, you'll have to, as they say "plow with the storm". One of these days I'm going to make a frame hitch for my plow. That'll bring it right in close and take those plowing forces directly to the frame rather than via the loader arms.
This also allows you to use the loader hyd. circuits for the blade functions. Be sure to shoe us your pics of your progress.

I think that's too much plow and since Fisher uses a trip-edge design it won't be easy to cut down. I suggest putting the 9 footer in Uncle Henry's or Craigslist and trade down to a seven foot.

Very nice information guys. I think it is safe to say the 9 foot plow is going to be to much for my tractor. I am sure I can find someone on craigslist that will want to trade for a wider plow.

Thanks NYbirdman for the pic. That gives me a good idea of how to build mine. I think I will float the plow. I can always snap the bucket on if I need to scrape the front of the garage.

I will certainly post pics of the project once I get it completed.

Thanks again to all!!! I love this place already :)

HPIM1280.JPGWhy not try the 9' plow. It may be fine, if it is to big you can always cut a little off each end.
I'm running a 9' Western truck plow on my Kioti DK 35. I run chains on all 4 to push it, but it works.

Wow. Hmmm... Not you got me thinking. Good to see that someone is actually using a 9 foot with the same tractor.
