I suppose if you had one of those rivet tools it could be done, but yes removing the guard wound make putting a bolt on section easy. I use a 2 lb hammer and 225 lb anvil which would be hard to get in place. I keep a spare bar in case I don't want to stop to repair sections, just replace the bar and move on.
I've never thought about sharpening the sections since they're supposed to be 'self sharpening'. But I'm considering sharpening the spare bar I have to see what it does. I'm not sure the NH541 instruction book addresses that that I've seen.
