Red Farm Diesel....over 500ppm

   / Red Farm Diesel....over 500ppm #11
I think that at the moment the only difference between plain and red diesel is that the dye is added to one, along with the price. I believe that both are ULSD now. But, not long after the time when most of the retail pumps changed to ULSD, LSD was still readily available in the red dye form for off road use.

Around here some places are still selling dyed LSD as heating oil and off road diesel but have ULSD for highway use. It appears that based on what sort of inventory an oil company has on what they are selling for HO and off road.

Where I live, off road diesel is just ULSD dyed red.
Yep, same here. The fuel depo here where I buy all the diesel shows up on the same truck. Other than the heating oil, dyed and non-dyed is the same stuff just different color. They add the dye

What is the heating oil than?

ITS ALL LOW SULFUR "ULSD". The pumps say no.1 diesel heating fuel dyed or "stove oil" Probably cut it with kerosene.... dont know dont care. No.2 diesel died off road non-taxable use, No.2 clear for on-road usage. This different grade of diesel OR ULSD thing has been argued over in other threads too... run what you want to run, add what you want to add to it. ALL diesel eventually will be low sulfur everywhere for anything, just a matter of time, unless you live somewhere other than the U.S. Not gunna get away from it.

Relax

The only reason I asked was you made it sound like your heating oil was different. Just wondering what it would have been.

Here if it is #2 wether it is Fuel oil, off road or on road it is all the same

.
1*Me thinks you're right.
2* *I'd think LSD has probably been phased out and has faded out by the wayside by now
