not much of an update. medical problems. still have me down by most part. lawn has grown 2 to 4 feet high. and i am in recovery mode. slowly getting back to norm taking on small little jobs around the house. part of reason today on forums is for bush hog and pto shaft for it.

but anyhow to this thread. "why" you should have ditches and run off areas. a little to late tonight, to take a picture of one side of drive. but you can clearly see a "wash out" happening within the rock drive way. as the last month or so of rain. ((rainy season just about to end here in central Illinois)) has caused approx 3" deep 4" wide V cut within the rock drive way. (crusher rock / white rock / 1" crush rock / ca16 / multi names it seems for it) all the water ((about 40 feet in each direction on both sides of drive way run all down through this area of drive. and washes things out. :(

also. last year, i put in new gas / electrical / water / telephone / internet / security lines out to the shed. and the trenches i made from them going through drive way has caused some settling to happen. and you can really see a couple mud holes in low spots that collect water. it would help if i had a "box blade with rippers" to re-scuff up the new rock i put down. and then level things back out to get good drainage for the area. but every time i drive over this area. i just end up making the mud hole wider and longer. and loose more rock down to the ground.
these couple mud hole areas. is on top of a hill that go around the house. so not much of a ditch can be put in talking 1/2" per say 10 feet difference in slope of areas. and you can really tell the difference. were it collects. and how much more mushy the rock is in the given areas. 1/2" is not much. but having things slope to wrong areas = bad thing.
granted for above mud holes. i know this was going to happen due to the trenches and settling. that i would need to re-work some areas.

will get pictures tomorrow.

================

as far as the new lane / culvert. it is on hold for some time.
bush hog / mowing first. to curve away rodents / coons / coyotes / possums / skunks / snakes.

then full redo on plumbing and diy filters for 300 tank down stairs for the little monster piranhas. (22 goldfish approx 12 to 16 inches in length) (couple leaks in plumbing, make it easier to clean filters. and remove some rotten wood from bases.

then installation of all new windows in the house. been buying them for almost a year or 2. as they went on sale or i find them on clearance. and time to get them installed. most of the current windows i can not open due to hinges broke or something else has rotted away on them *crosses fingers* i hope i measured correctly. *shrugs* could of bought custom windows from get go. but saved nearly 3/4's of what they would of cost if i just went some place and filled out a check and had them ready in a couple weeks.

Interesting to say the least. Quite the job you have going there. :thumbsup:

Chances are you are already doing this. On a packed pile, drive right up to it, take your bucket and curl it to you. A couple curls and it is easy to fill the bucket.

If you get caught short on time after putting in the culvert, stake it down with some 3' re-bar to keep it from floating out.

I have enjoyed your posts & pictures. Keep going. Thank you.

post 18 attached picture on bottom of that post. tried my best with notation of curling back towards you. as you noted. generally for me though. it is a single run. and not a second back up and then forward back into pile to get more dirt. and in that single run is lifting FEL and curling bucket back towards you.

errr take above back. just read "packed pile" and not a loose pile of dirt. ay. a pile of dirt that been setting there for a couple months. like what i will have. i will be taking a run or 2 into the pile until i clear it out and get backhoe in there for a fresh new pile of dirt to haul to the culvert area. once thing i do like. about the 555c. i have nice fast and nice good response to all hydraulics FEL and backhoe. exception swing of backhoe that is loose. meaning i can jerk the curl of the bucket. and pop some of that dirt low on the cutting edge back further into the bucket. as i go back for a second run. so tractor just has to fight cutting into dirt. vs smashing more dirt into the bucket and bull dozing dirt out of the bucket.
