regarding float

posted a qwestion yestrday about float on front bucket on a yanmar 336d. after reading booklet on front loader oporation. while joy stick is in netral position. moving it into lowering position their should be a double detent first is to lower bucket. all way down should be in float position. lt does not seem to do any thing but still lower the bucket.how can i check to see if it is working or not working. and how to fix if broken. would like to use for snow plowing up at the camp in n.h.beautyfull white mountains. i mounted a fisher 7-1/2 foot plow to the bucket butb way to heavey and stuck out way to far. afraid of racking loader arms after reading of the posibilitys of to much lateral load while plowing at extream angles winging snow.

While setting still, when you push it halfway, the loader should come to the ground and start lifting the front of the tractor, if you push it farther forward into the float detent the tractor will slowly lower itself back down to the ground. It does that so if you are moving it prevents the bucket from digging deeper. Sometimes it will bobble up and down a bit on the way down as it checks the amount of load on the system. I hope this helps.

Do you know the manufacturer and model number of the valve?

You could take the cap off the bottom of the valve, and inspect or take it apart to see if there are springs and balls on the end of the spool.

If the float parts are there, you just have to push harder and snap the lever into the detent.
