Renewable diesel made my Branson run noticeably better. It starts easier and runs cleaner when cold. Less smell out of the DPF too. It's a continual low temp regen system and I can't get the DPF clogged data from the data recorder so I can't tell how much better it is for the DPF. But it runs so much better on renewable that I'd use it even if it had no other benefits.
My 2022 Silverado HD with EFI, DEF and all the other stuff modern diesels over 75hp have, doesn't seem to care which fuel it gets. It regens at 800 miles no matter what the DPF's condition is or which fuel I have been using. I think that's programmed in because it can happen when the DPF is less than 50% clogged.
Currently I think most stations in CA have renewable diesel. It's often not marked as such so it can be hard to tell. I found an app and web site that shows stations that have it.
There's only a couple listed in my part of Oregon, but Oregon does have a program to encourage it's use so hopefully it becomes more wide spread.
