Never heard of this locked door stuff. In Ohio come in uninvited and you might get shot.

And you will most likely go to jail for manslaughter.
What I keep saying that is still misinterpreted is that if a person comes into your house uninvited, UNARMED, NON-THREATENING even stating that "I am not going to hurt you" and then starts picking up a few things from your house like stereo, camera etc, you could use a gun to threaten him and tell him to stop or you will shoot, BUT if he turns around and walks out, you better not shoot him or you will go to jail. You cant use deadly force unless you fear for you or your family members life. Shooting him in the back as he is retreating will get you at least 15-20 years in prison. This is true of any situation whether in your home, in your car or out on the street.

I agree with that and it's the same way in Va. Also you can not provoke someone say in a bar or on the road and shoot them before they crack you with a tire iron.

How do I know he is unarmed? Under the castle doctrine he very well get shot. Might well be arrested but I don't think be tried.

2901.09 No duty to retreat in residence or vehicle.
(A) As used in this section, "residence" and "vehicle" have the same meanings as in section 2901.05 of the Revised Code.

(B) For purposes of any section of the Revised Code that sets forth a criminal offense, a person who lawfully is in that person's residence has no duty to retreat before using force in self-defense, defense of another, or defense of that person's residence, and a person who lawfully is an occupant of that person's vehicle or who lawfully is an occupant in a vehicle owned by an immediate family member of the person has no duty to retreat before using force in self-defense or defense of another.

Seriously, before I jump in the shower, the alarm is set. It protects all the windows (alarm screens, if cut or removed the alarm sounds) and doors. It's for bad guys as much as bears, as I live up against the eastern flank of the Carson Range. If either a bear or bad guy comes in, they better either retreat in a hurry or get better at dodging bullets than I am a good shot.

I went ten years on Oakland PD without ever having to shoot at someone, a good thing. I'm not now, nor will I ever go looking for a fight. But I also won't turn away from someone who needs help, nor will I run (too old for that anyway). I think someone said it already, there's sheep, and wolves, and sheepdogs.

Gary is correct. Unless you live in a state with castle doctrine or laws that say you can protect your "stuff", you have to fear for your life (or your families lives) if you shoot or you are going to have an interesting time in court trying to remain free.

One of my instructors gave this analogy to drive the point:

Your wife is home alone. A intruder breaks in and rapes her. She cannot get to a firearm during the struggle. After "the act" when the dude is leaving, she gets a chance to retrieve a firearm. Can she shoot?

We all say "yes", the dirt bag deserves to die. Depending on where you live, the law says no ... the "threat" is over.

Well thank God I live in the great state of Ohio. She might get a Medal here. How do you know he was leaving? As long as he is in the house he is fair game. Yell HEY! He turns around and Boom.

Anyways...back to reloading.
I finally got off my butt and built my reloading bench in the remodeled area of shop. I purchased a new sliding drawer cabinet for tools and reloading parts, and placed my older 8 drawer cabinet along side. that cabinet holds bullets, completed cases and empty cases. Have ordered a cover that will cover all the press equipment for dust control. I figured a 2' x 4' bench was plenty big enough, as ive been using a cluttered 2x4 table for the past 10 years. this one will be 2x4 clear space. all tools will be housed in drawers instead on on the table top.

i ordered the complete cover for unit from Hornady thru Cabelas. should be in next week. it will cover entire unit. its built to fit over complete unit. ill wait and see.
