That must have been an adventure in it self.

Any regrets?

No, I did everything I wanted to do in Alaska, over the 25 years I was there......which was a lot!

Also during that time, I bought the farm I grew up on and moved back onto it, so what's to regret? lol

Nice... especially when a plan comes together for the better...

Really enjoy your posts and many are inspiring.

My only Alaska friends are sadly giving it up... they are up in years and started wintering in California to be close to their daughter... said Alaska will always be home but said it's a younger mans game... he will be 80 soon and started the snowbird thing in his 60's being most careful not to become a deemed California resident not that California has not tried many times to claim him.

I moved 7 times in 11 years before i came back to NC, all by myself. 3 were coast to coast to coast. It's difficult but because it's just me, no conversations about what goes to the dump or given away.

I kept my tools, my old bmw and my piano and that was about all the trailer could hold. You can always buy different furniture.

I have made several moves over the years, each time it was more stuff to move,
Speaking of Seminole,TX i lived there for several years.
I enjoyed the area it was generally quite dry and dusty, a lot of gas production and quite a bit
of peanut and cotton farming. Used to run over to Hobbs NM and raced over there at the dirt track south of town.
Then moved down to Fort Stockton for a few years even drier and dustier.
Crime wasn't much of an issue back then, of course that was back in the 80's.

Your friends are right, it IS a younger mans game, unless you are one of the citiots, that Alaska is becoming full of!!

If you live in the city in Alaska, it's just like a city anywhere else, same crime, drugs, idiots ect...

I lived out out of the way, I spent much of my time hunting and exploring out in the bush, even that isn't what it use to be...

I loved Alaska, but I love where I am now too...

The San Francisco East Bay born and raised except for extended time away for construction projects in Austria and Olympia WA.

Never made a big move... more like spreading out...

The goal was always to find that ideal place for family, work and antique car hobby...

May or may not happen as life happens and plans change...

At least I can live vicariously through my TBN friends and marvel at their build projects and homesteads!

I just read some of this thread. Some of you will remember I moved 2.5 years ago. We were caught by surprise with our home going under contract in 3 days from listing. Needless to say it was frantic moving the house stuff and 3 outbuildings worth of stuff. I ended up buying a 30' PJ gooseneck to get the farm equipment. All I can say is good luck. I'm not moving again unless I win a lottery and just buy all new stuff.

I remember the move and build... it's nice to be where you want with all your ducks in a row.

All I can say is congratulations to a plan well executed.
