Remember it,... Heck I still own it!/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif (see attached photo) Paid $700 for a 59' Austin healey 100-6 when I was 15 yrs. old (now 42). That was all the money I had. The tranny was in broken in two, and it needed a ton of work. Got it running by the time I was old enough to drive at 16. Had no top or interior for the first year, just two seats. I restored it while in college twenty some years ago, and its ready to be done again, as the wiring harness went up in a puff of smoke a few years back. Now they will sell for over $35k all restored so I guess it was worth hanging onto!

Your post reminds me of my second car.....a 1976 Ford Pinto Pony in baby blue....manly! Anyway, I went to pick up my then girlfriend and current wife at her parents house. I'm driving down her road and started hearing this terrible banging and after a few seconds it stops. I stop the car and get out and look back down the road. Turns out my bumper just up and fell off! The banging was the license plate light wire which kept it attached to the car for a bit until even it gave way. Real romantic driving around in a car with a bumper in the back seat/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif.....Michigan salt!

71 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40. Still have it. Doesn't run, but I still have it, and isn't that what's important? /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Von,

That's a mighty fine car. I love those classic lines. It seems as though we've been plaqued with the Jelly-Bean era of late. However, there is a little glimmer of style coming back. It's about time.

You've got a nice investment there!

Austin Healy 3000

To me that's one of the nicest looking cars made. Do you still have the " King of Darkness " electrical system?

1962 Chevy Nova. I got it it 1968 when I was 15 1/2 for $450.00 and waxed it for six months until I got my license. Fond memories. I wish I still had it. Hmmm...now I remember...I totaled it! Oh well.

Have any of you ever noticed that when you drive by the Highschool parking lots, you don't see any cars or trucks older than maybe 5 years. most of them a newer and more expensive than what I can afford today.

'66 Dodge Polara. Paid $50 to a neighbor. Got it running but never plated it (I was only 15 at the time) It was pretty shabby so I ended up parting it out and made decent money. Then came a '61 Triumph Herald. Got it running but again never plated it. Odd little car, ended up selling. My first plated ride was a '68 Ford F100 Ranger XLT. Nice truck, but a very serious case of body rot. Fond memories, but I'll stick with my current truck /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
