remove spreader agitator?

I have a Herd M96 spreader that I love but when I use certain things like lime pellets the spreader pulverizes the pellets and I end up spreading pellets and dust. Should I remove the agitator? Anyone done this?

I have not done that, however, If your flow works good without the agitator, may be worth a try? Ken Sweet

I order my spreaders without them, nothing i spread has bridging issues that require it.

There's a lot of dust in any bag of pelletized lime.
It still ends up on the ground

Took mine out years ago for these very reasons.
Agitators are only needed for specific applications anyway.
