I THOUGHT I had a good idea on how to remove my buried auger. Well, I still think it was a good IDEA LOL.

Yeah, after everything else I had to dig it out.

enless your wrapped around a root, you should be able to screw the thing out. Ive pulled mine out using a large pipe wrench and a cheater bar in the past.

Best way is to dig with slow rpm and continually raise and lower the thing to keep the hole clear.

Did it ever move when you were using the T? Looks like the cross bar broke?

I appreciate your advice. In the case of that first try and first buried auger, the ground was very dry and very hard. I don't believe that there were any roots, but there were rocks. To get it out we dug most of it, then lifted it out with a chain wrapped around the bucket. Honestly, I haven't had the best luck with the PHD. If I haven't already beat it to heck, I'd like to return it to the store LOL.

Yes the top part of the "T" broke right off. No, it never moved with that method.

I too have been stuck, but didn't bury it quite that bad. What I did was put a bar through the ujoint on the driveshaft and turn it backwards to get it out. I learned very quickly to pull it up everylittle bit to let the screw clean.

It's stories like this that makes me covet a hydraulic auger that goes on the FEL. That way I'll have reversability AND lift capabilities. Now all I need is lots of $$!

It takes a little time to get the hang of it. If the ground is dry and hard packed try going a little lower and raising it up frequently. Going slow is usually good idea regarding tractors, generally, until you get the hang if it.

Going all out........better getvready to replace a lot of stuff ......and maybe pay some medical bils. Post picks and videos.

I use a large alum. pipewrench and helper.used it alot when I first got the phd but after a couple hundred holes got better using the phd .now hardley ever have to use the pipewrench...russ
