Re: Removing roots and prepping for planting lawn -- Proper implement suggestions please?
Hi All!
In my neck of the woods (east central Alabama) the ground is hard clay and lots of rocks. Some as big as basketballs. My building site was all well established trees prior to starting construction.
I went over my new garden and lawn area with a subsoiler first to bring up big rocks and bust hardpan. I then went over it with a box blade and scarifiers to clean it up. Then lots of root and rock raking and hand pickup.
I am using a Yanmar YM2000 - 24 HP and 2200 pounds weight. There were a number of places that brought the Yanny to a halt and started the front wheels rising and the rears spinning.
I just raised the tool and went over the area from another angle until I broke loose whatever was holding me back.
Yes - I have a ROPS!
