Removing t posts

I don't know of many 'reverse' pto's so.. I'm not betting on a 'reverse' PHD.

The way we've always pulled a stuck auger out was with a pipe wrench and pipe and lots of cussing!!

Dont think it would be strictly necessary to have a reversing PTO...just some sort of reverse gearing in the PHD. Like I said (or should have said) I dont know squat about PHDs. :D It seems that it would be handy for those times when the auger is stuck...and you have land anchors to install/remove.

I'm not saying they don't have them.. however most of the phd's i see are simple gearboxes like a mower has.. IE.. and input shaft and an output shaft. IE.. a ring and pinion gear.

To have a reverse, you have to have a shifting fork, and a couple extra gears and shaft in there , as well as shifting rails.. etc. In other words.. a mini transmission. Not to mention all of theis would have to have remote control linkages.. like shifter cables or solenoid shifters, as it would be too dangerous to have the controls manually operated at the auger gearbox.

I think you'd have a 1000$-1500$ PHD unit there!

I'm sure there would be a few people that would want / use one.

I see...I wonder if a hydraulic motor wouldnt be easily. I think thats how the electric co trucks are fitted up. No mater...having something that can go forward/backward sure would be handy for more than making holes.

Glad the water worked.
With a PHD, you could dig a hole beside the anchor and that would, likely, make things sufficiently loose to be able to get the anchor out, then fill the whole hole.

How do I best use a farm jack (like the one pictured) to remove t-posts? I am thinking I just tie a chain around the post and jack and lift, but there are over a hundred posts and I would like the best method possible. Or should I just buy a Post Popper for ease?

Here is a handy device made for lifting/removing T-posts from the ground. I bought one a few years back and it works well for me.

While probably not any less expensive.. it would be easier.

A pto pump, and motor, a spool valve setup so you could reverse the flow and thus the direction..and a tank... Way easier to implement and build.
