Removing the rocks

If rocks were valuable, I'd be wealthy, I've got tons of them!!

I’m on the other side of this equation, I just bought some rocks. This bunch cost me $250 and that was with me hauling them myself.

Rocks - I have 5 kids and between them, myself and my wife, we have several piles of rocks. I moved one of the piles and it took 3 loads with a 5 yard dump truck. I bet total we have about 40 yards of rocks between 1" and 16" and probably another 15 yards of rocks between 16" and 4 ft. You would be amazed at what you can do with rocks if you are creative.

3 years to put in a lawn . . . and I am in a lot better condition for getting out of the seat to help the little ones pick up their 1 gallon buckets and dump them in the loader.

I gave up trying to stay in the tractor seat a long time ago!

Here is what I use; it's a stone bucket or rock bucket depending on who you talk to. Works great for me.

I would also be rich if I was a rock farmer. Heck, I'd be doing pretty good if I got $1 for everytime someone told me to sell rocks! Easier said than done! I've offered the rocks free to anyone who wanted to pick them up off my field. One guy was very excited; he had been buying field stone for a wall he was building. Came over, picked a truckload, commented along the lines of "That's hard work!" and I aint seen him since!

DMF

Does that only work in soil or can you run it through pasture grass and pick up the rocks without tearing up the turf?

If it works in grass where did you get the bucket?

Thanks,

Charles

Heck, I invited lots of friends over for a BBQ. Bring the kids and we'll have a contest. Biggest rock pile gets $25.

Not even one taker. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I tried that too; called it a "Cotton pickin' Rock pickin' Party"... no takers (sigh).

Does the bucket tear up the turf? Only if you need to pry it out then yes. It's going to scuff it somewhat even if you don't need to pry it out; after all, you have to get the bucket under it somehow. I find that it does less damage than trying to pick/get under stones with my regular bucket...

We have a rule in my house, if you leave the light on after leaving the room and dad catches you, you have to fill up a 5 gallon bucket of rocks for each occurance. Now they walk around in the dark afraid of leaving the lights on, sure wish they would leave a few on each week, dad needs all the help he can get. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Where did you get that? Is it easy to switch between FEL bucket and that one? Cost?

Looks like it's what I'm looking for.

Just think... It took those rocks 40 billion years to get where they are /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif...and you just want to pick them up and move them???
