Repainting the 135

I used to periodically look at some work Mark did on Hoye's web site, now I can't find it, but I used to sigh and think I wish he lived closer so he could paint mine:)

Thanks for all the info!

It ain't fair !

You paint your baby with a fine automotive paint and get her real purdy, and then the guy down the street accuses you of getting one of those cheesy VN recons !

No! It ain't fair!!!!

Jerry,

Thanks for the kind words, and I suppose the pictures that Aaron had were updated with someone else's refinished tractors.

Frank_Z....let them eat cake. I have, on occasion, been accused of the same thing. Most of these guys are just pouting with paint envy.

Streamin, spoken like a true professional. After preparation is complete, there can't be anything more important, or a step that's the most significant than promoting adhesion. The primer is, after all, the foundation for any good-great paint project. Testing that theory, and after the paint is fully cured, try pressure washing your project! The pressures WILL find the smallest of areas that indicate poor adhesion (poor preparation) and need to be repaired if you shortcut any areas.

The preparation is a long, involved task...but justified when the project is completed.

Thankyou ,Mark. I can tell you know what your talking about.
Most people don't understand the 90% prep- 10% paint rule. I wish my customers would understand that, then they would gladly pay what that kind of work is really worth!

For the frame & engine area, I like to use a cheap spray-on foam oven cleaner for those hard to reach places and all the little nooks and crannys where a scotch-brite won't quite make it. Aside from removing the grease and oil, it removes some of the old paint and what paint it leaves behind is nicely etched, ready to prime.

No, Bird deleted it. It was too funny, I had to share but TBN frowns on ebay links now.

I guess I can understand. Bird said someone got taken on an item after they followed a link from TBM, and then wanted TBN to reimburse them for it.

How dumb was that? If that's the case, I'm going to sue the state highway commission for allowing the billboard that endorsed a casino that took all my money ;)
