I own a 1500D but haven't had to resleeve it yet. However, many years ago when I was teach Vo Ag, a kid brought an old Farmall in to rebuild. I made a sleeve puller out of scape steel and a long 1" diameter bolt. It worked pretty well. On the Farmall, once the sleeves was pull ~ 1/2" or so, they then came right out.

On car engines I use a small rubber mallet to nudge them in any direction they'll move. Usually after a few taps the cylinder is loose enough to pull up. In my case there is nothing holding the cylinders in except a paper gasket at the bottom of each cylinder.

I pulled a sleeve out of a YM2000. I made it out of angle iron and a piece of all thread rod. It worked fine.

Have you tried chilling it? An icepack, or maybe even dry ice, may help it slide out easier.

Is the angle iron on the bottom slightly shorter than the sleeve OD? If it is ,more torque on the nut. With all the torque on the nut you are comfortable with, tap the side of the block, TAP with a brass hammer.

I've never had to do this, don't need to now, but for future reference can someone post a picture so I can visualize how this works.
Thanks,
Craig

yes the angel is just on the edge. right now i'm using the slide puller and running a bolt up to an angel that is sitting on the head bolts. have it as tight as it will go. have wd40 on edge of sleeve. has been under presure all night and stil nothing is moving past the fisrt qt. inch.

"have it as tight as it will go."

How can that be, unless the bolt ran out of threads. I would forget the WD-40 and use real penetrating oil, drive it back down and try it again.

I have never use a puller. But I have never pull them on a Yanmar . On all the other tractors I have done I used a bock of wood an a hammer and they always came out.

I would be careful with the head bolts. I used a piece of pipe just larger than the bore. I put the bar across it so as not to damage the head bolt threads. I used an air impact gun to tighten the nut. The impact seemed to help. Lube on the threads is a good thing also. Good Luck

did not work on it today. hopefully in the morning I may be able to think of something new to try to use to pull sleeve. as far as the head bolt I put the nuts on them and turned down till the bolt and nut are even so as not to damage the bolts. I know there is a puller for the sleeve out there its just I have no idea where to get it or how it works.
here are some of the pictures of what i'm doing

I wonder if your applying too much pressure to the sides of the sleeve causing it to push out against the cylinder wall making it difficult to come out

Just a thought

The sleeve puller I made for the ammonia compressors at work consisted very much of what you have there. The only difference was the bottom part. I made a 1/2" flat plate just a tiny bit smaller in diameter than the sleeve itself, with two flats ground on the sides so I could put it in from the top, then turn it into position and thread the rod into it - there wasn't much room to work from below is the reason I did it this way.......if this sleeve is "sticking", I'd knock it back down and look for the reason, maybe you're puller is hanging up on something from below, or it's causing the sleeve to cock in the bore?

You're design is OK, but I might have drilled holes where the studs are so the crossbar could "float" a bit and used pieces of pipe to support the crossbar instead of pushing down on the head bolts - if that's what I'm seeing in your pics...........
