That's too bad. It probably was simple. Such as the overflow tube from the coolant recovery tank. Or the drain petcock on the radiator was loose. Or the band clamp on the lower radiator hose needed tightening.

Somebody in their maintenance dept didn't do a final look-over.

That is too bad. It would be interesting to know why. Simply opening the hood would have shown exactly why in less than a minute.
The two common reasons for antifreeze dripping lead in very different directions.

If it was over-filled and the day was hot then that's something that might happen to anyone - it means nothing except that fluid expands, and in fact might even be a slight positive at the dealer level because it means he checked it over, but oops, overfilled and the tractor is expelling the extra just as it should via the overflow tube. It won't amount to half a coffee cup and once done won't happen again.

OTOH, a loose band clamp on the hoses - or a leak anywhere on the radiator itself is pure negligence - probably at the manufacturer's assembly factory level - and is the sort of oversight that can permanently damage the engine. Big negative, and an good reason to walk away.... quickly....

it's a lot heavier than the l and possibly might make the yard sloppy when driving it on the grass, also It just looks really big compared to the smaller grand l line up. Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated !

I was without my regular mowing machine (BX-1850) for about a month (I had sold it) and as I was waiting for the arrival of my new B-2601, I tried mowing my lawn with my L-3700 (with R4 tires) and it was a disaster. I dameged my not perfect, but decent looking front and back lawns. An L and larger are too heavy for lawn mowing in my experience.

The type of soil must play a large role in the success or failure of certain machines. I mow whenever I can fit it in. That sometimes means the first day we get sunshine after a rainy period. With the exception of one small spot (in the shade and less than a foot away from the creek) I would challenge anyone to stop by and point out a tire mark from my tractor. The gauge wheels of the RFM do leave marks, but the tractor itself doesn't.

I've gone larger and heavier 4 times (yep, both me and the tractor:)) since they delivered the Cub when we built here around 1989. Each time I bought a tractor it seemed large and capable enough at first, and each time I reached a point where the desire for a few more horses or a little more FEL capacity sent me shopping again. My 5th and maybe final "lawn mower" is a Kubota L4240HSTC with loaded R4 tires that pulls a 91" Caroni RFM. The FEL and its frame are never on unless I'm using the loader for something. On / Off is too easy to put up with the extra length and weight in the front. The height did necessitate trimming the trees a little higher, but my only regret is not getting this tractor years ago.

My BIL next door has an L4740HSTC that he loves as well. He does have a Ferris that he uses on the nicer parts of his lawn.

Good Morning Everyone, Just want to thank everyone again. The tractor arrived last night but I promised I would take the wife to dinner so I went out this morning and took a few pictures !! If anyone has time to comment on what they think the last picture shows I would appreciate it as I can't get ahold of the dealer until monday. It kind of looks and feels like battery acid but I'm not sure. Anyways here are some pictures !

Are you asking about what's on the machine or the ground?

Is the battery anywhere near there?

On the machine. Its all over the alternator and oil filter. The battery is in the front behind the grille

That's curious. What is it? Smell? Taste?? Check with baking soda to see if it is battery acid, but It doesn't look like that. My bet is it is wax or some sort of preservative they forgot to wash off.
Whatever it is, I can't see it being a problem unless it is battery acid....and I kind of doubt it is that, but do check it by taste and with the soda. Nothing else is likely to give you a problem.

Beautiful, Congrats! I'm guessing rScotty has it right with the wax comment.
