Hi Pete,

<font color=blue>...I have a big old pine beam (very soft wood) that I hang from my bucket with chains. Put that up against the bumper and heave!</font color=blue>

All I have is a front blade. And I don't want to scratch up anyone's paint (at least on new cars /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif). I'm thinking more of a bunch of silk pillows! /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

<font color=blue>"Of course with courts who find a farmer guilty because a criminal running from the police on a stolen motorcycle crashed in his field, I'm sure this wouldn't protect me! Did you read that thread? Unbelievable!</font color=blue>

Bob,

I want to keep the record straight. I'm the one that posted the comments about a criminal running from the police. I had read that story in an insurance trade publication that I received a few years back. One of the other TBN'ers (an attorney) questioned the accuracy of the story and asked if I could find the case number. I said that I would certainly try, but that I had never had a problem with this particular publication.

I did contact this publication and explained what I wanted to find out. I've not gotten a response since then. The individual that I spoke with said something about not being able to track down the notes from the story, etc. I said it shouldn't be that hard to find out from the story what jurisdiction it supposedly took place in, then I could contact the local court records department. They said they'd get back to me if they could get any information.

I now have to say that that story was, in all likelihood, an exageration of some less than colorful story. Who knows? All I know is that I will not utilize this publication any longer, and I regret posting something on TBN that was less than accurate.

Thank God! Maybe there's hope for us afterall.

Thanks for the clarification..

<font color=blue>You should start painting little cars on the side of the tractor, like they paint the planes that they shot down on the side of their planes! </font color=blue>

ROFL!!! Not a bad idea... /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

I don't know Golfgar, there are several references inside of what appear to be legitimate case files to the "farmer and the trespasser" incident. For example: . If you search for "farmer" in the text it refers to the story you spoke of (or some variation of it) as backup for the case in question. I found several references to this on the web. Also <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.amclaw.com/Tort_law.html>Tort Law refers to the case in the other link.

Now I don't believe everything I read /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif...but this could be a REAL story!

Bob, A nylon ratchet strap works great. Easy on/easy off and the tire doesn't budge. JT

Bob T, one of the trick I remember from my college days at the UofArkansas. We would get a nice snow and the dorm parking lot I was in you could only go out by going up hill. One smart chap had a jeep, put chains on the front wheels and had a large wood frame of two by's on the front that he tied on a intertube, and would push people out all night long for $5 a pop... The tube I believe was an aircraft tube of some sort...

You might try putting inner tubes in 3 tires, and hang them across your blade. Maybe strap them in the tire somehow. This will give you a little more cushin/little less compression of the tires.

Egon,

No. I'm saying that I want to be like all the rest - at least on TBN. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
