This is another great forum for people to do their homework before purchasing. I joined one just like this to research the "facts" before purchasing my vehicle since every cent counts in this economy. I've been reading all I can about the JD 790 Tractor, I'm looking at a '04 with a loader and 60 belly mower. I already own a JD 425 Lawn Tractor to maintain the grass around the house and a TOO BIG JD3010D with a rear mount McKee snow blower. Looking backwards for hours blowing my 400 driveway is getting real old so now I'm focused on a compact tractor offering a mid PTO and hopefully I can find a 58 JD Front Mount snow blower somewhere.... an endless search. Before finding the 790 with the loader I found it virtually impossible to locate any used front loaders or front mount snow blowers for compact tractors in general. I'm drawn to the 790 because it's beefier and shifting doesn't bother me after working with the 3010 for many years. I was looking at a 3005 vs. the 790 and couldn't quite discern the differences and 3005s seem far and few between. If anyone has any suggestions what I should specifically look for on the 790 before making the purchase please chime in. I would be interested to know of and discovered like design flaws or problems to look for. I like reading everyone's comments good or bad and helps me form an educated opinion based on lessons learned. Thanks to everone for their participation.
