RESOLVED - Thanks - Montana 2844 HST Stuck in "M"

I just joined the group. My Montana 2844 HST is stuck in "Speed" M. The selection lever L M N H is free playing as if the linkage has disconnected but I checked and the linkage is connected properly ( there is a pin that goes through the shaft to connect lever to the selection shaft). It's as if the connection has come off inside. At least it's stuck in M. Has anyone encountered anything like this before?

Have try raising front end on level ground than move level?

Had a similar issue on my kioti. The L-M-H selector felt as if it were free sliding. When I crawled under I saw that there was a turnbuckle like connector that had broken. I got a replacement from dealer put it back on and fixed my issue.

Maybe have someone move the selector while you are watching underneath, may reveal the culprit.

Thanks. It was a really tight spot and tough to see. The lever attaches on a shaft with a pin (sleeve). Turn out it had sheared or worn out. I had to take the back wheel off to get at it. There were a few problems getting the remains of the old pin out and putting the new one in, very little space to hammer or get vice grips in..... anyway.....it's fixed now
