I am just starting to restore a very rusted 8n. The first problem is that the rear axle is locked up, at least for one wheel. Any ideas on how to free it up?

so.. with the rear jacked up, and trans in neutral, only one wheel spins, and the other is solidly locked?

if so.. I'd be that sides axle to see if it seized to the bearing, and/or the left trumpet to check the diffy / spiders..

post back.

ps.. you have checked the brakes on that side right? to make sure they are not hung up / locked down??

The brake is rusted to the drum. back the adjuster all the way out if possible and usually a few good whacks with a hammer against the face of the drum will unstick them. Obviously you'll need to remove the wheel first.
