Retaining walls and patio

Trying to read his posts reminds me of Boomhauer on King of the Hill...you had to turn on closed captioning to understand what he was saying...!

I think the patio is... done. Lighting isn't that good in the sun today but the poly sand is in and we're moving on to the fence next week. IMG-20210206-WA0005.jpegIMG-20210206-WA0004.jpegIMG-20210206-WA0002.jpeg

Lesson learned: these 12x24 pavers do NOT like to be tamped. We broke about 12 pavers while compacting due to any minor uneven spots in the sand base.

that's why I like the 4 x 8 pavers. You can vibrate the heck out of them.

I've never installed them that big. Looks like they would cover a lot of ground quickly!!!

Yes but they're really heavy and as we learned, not as forgiving.

Wish you spoke up sooner. Concrete piling gets driven wearing plywood hat. Same idea works on pavers.

Saw picture of new TBN fence truck, looks good.

Was thinking of that... we just compacted once, paid our dues, and threw the sand down.

Though I ignored the thread, this project has continued. Now in its second year.

Last update had the pavers down and since then the only completed task was the fence. We used 1x6 mangaris, and a lot of it. Turned out really nice. Lumber costs had not skyrocketed so it wasn't really too crazy compared to redwood. But supply was limited and we bought out the local supplier who had just barely enough to get the fence done
