Retirement - Day 1

   / Retirement - Day 1 #11
Golfgar4,
I'll be 14 days ahead of you. 7/01/05.
31 years in my present job, 6 years in a federal govenment job, 4 years in the military and I worked part time since I was 14 while in grade school.
I think I deserve my retirement and I'm looking forward to it.

Why? It won't do you any good where you're going... /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yeah, you got me. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I might sneak out a little earlier. Depends on how I use (or don't use) any vacation time I have on the books. We're planning a trip in February out to Nevada to be with the granddaughter on her 1st birthday. We've allowed a week, but I got a feeling the wife's going to want to make it a little longer.

I'll have 31 years in also when I go out, then 4 for the Navy and the part time jobs I had will add another 5. That's not counting the 2 summers I spent when I was in 5th grade caddying at a local country club.

I'm with you - I'm REALLY looking forward to it too. Like EastTexFrank said, the best part is setting your own schedule. At my age now, I'm having a real problem with having to "ask" to take an extra 10 minutes on my lunch hour. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Oh, so you're taking yours with you, huh? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

2031 is going to be 'all too soon' for me, I am sure. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

The math confuses me.
57-31 = 26
26-6 = 20
20 - 4 = 16
16 - 4 = 12 (went in the Navy?)
/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Now I am tired, too much calculating.

Hi

Congratulations!
I retired in 1996 after 30 !/2 years and I'm still trying to figure out what to do first. The list just keeps growing and I'm loving every minute of it.
