Thanks to all for your words of wisdom [& envy!]. No major projects are in my immediate future. I'll just be able to do what I was already doing at a slightly faster clip - if I want to. I think I can adjust just fine.

I'll let you know when I'm bored!

Tdog, Well I noticed you registerd 4/30/01 and only have 209 posts I guess you'll have a little more time for posting in the future..Maybe even catch up to BIRD? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Congratulations...

After my last day of duty with the USAF came to an end, I went home, walked thru the door, touched my wife on the shoulder and said: Tag! You're it!

Now, 10 years later, I've already been working in the "private sector" for half as long as I did in the military... I wonder if my second retirement will last longer than 43 days? /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Now see you went and done it right Ron, no plans for the next day, just do what you want, when you want. Plans are something you have to do.......when I retire plans will be to not make them.

Tdog,
I have already responded to this post but I've decided to up my retirement date from July '05 to Jan. '05.

So how is it going so far???
I'm so excited I can't sleep. The wife's "To Do" list keeps growing.

B7500 - - good for you. Be sure to let us know how it goes.

How's it going for me you ask? Well lessee, I believe in the month & 5 days since I retired I've logged ~~60-70 hours on the BX-22. Dug up several trees, cleared a little yaupon, mowed a little, etc. Looks like more of the same on the horizon. Doesn't sound boring to me. Getting ready to have a pole barn/garage/shop built. I'd do it myself, but I'm retired.

Cheers,

tdog

Tdog,

I'm revisiting this post because I upped my retirement date from July 2005 to the end of this December.
So, how do you like it so far? As it gets closer I am getting more and more excited. Still, I'll miss the guys I've worked with for over thirty years. I know that but like you I am looking forward to all those projects I never had time to do.
This is a big step...

I guess I asked this already (and you answered). As you can see I'm so excited I can't think straight.

b7500 - - as I said before, good for ya!

Do I miss the informal interaction with old friends - - yep. But they gave me a great send off where they told a bunch of lies about me. I still see them on occasion & we talk via email. However, for me, retirement was a good move. Now understand, retirement doesn't pay as well! I think we'll be OK, though - - still working out the kinks. got my 1st SS check in October.
I'll say this, I stay busy around here. Or I'm off somewhere with my bride. Either way, I'm happy.
My situation was complicated because of . . . well, complications revolving around my wife's health. She's some better now, but I could not continue to leave her for ~~11-12 hours a day.
I'm glad I did what I did.

Best wishes to you!
