Retirement gold watches

I've got a Chelsea Ships Bell clock that is like that. Right time twice a day.

"Charlie's got a gold watch Don't seem like a whole lot After thirty years of drivin' Up and down the interstate" From 18 wheels and a dozen roses.

The most time that I ever got in with a company was 20 years. I would have stayed to 30 but they down sized. I got a 20 year thank you certificate from the company, not a word from the union. At 53, I was able to start collecting my monthly pension thanks to a contract clause that added five years of service and/or five years to your age to reach the magic number 75. For that, I can thank the union.

I decided to take my SS at sixty two. The company that I four years with had a pizza party. It was pretty good pizza!

I too do not wear a ring unless my wife and I are going someplace. I do look at my phone for the time if we are headed for an appointment or something but I have not worn a watch in quite a few years.

Way back when I started working in excavating construction, the trucks either had no power steering or minimal power assisted steering. You learned not to wrap your thumb around the wheel. That saved you from a broken thumb when the wheel got jerked out of your hands but the watches I wore on my left wrist got smashed on the window/door frame.

I wear my watch on my left arm and that's never happened to me;)

Don't forget he drives on the "wrong" side of the road down under.

My retirement watch is still in it's original case. Just as shiny as the day I got it. Not sure it works.
Same place mine is.
My retirement gold watch is like a trinket, compared to my Employee Profit Sharing Reitirment plan (401K) that I left with. :)

I never wore a wedding band or watch while employed for safety reasons. And I still don't wear a wedding band. After being married for 46 years this month, I don't need a ring to remind me that I am a married man. ;)

I retired after 35 years of teaching. The school didn't give me a gold watch, but I did get one. The last 17 years that I taught, I had bus duty. That was making sure that Mother's little darlings got on the buses, didn't fight and the buses left to pick up at the high school on time. I was there to take any miscreants off that were causing trouble. I also had worked as a bus mechanic, so if there was a problem I could have the bus garage bring what was needed. As I said the school didn't do much, but the bus drivers (some of them former students) and mechanics presented me with a gold pocket watch and a card signed by the whole transportation department.

My 30 years earned me an engraved goldpan and a modest retirement. No complaints, other than a worn out body.

I received two watches from my job of 28 years. One was for driving a million miles with out a accident. I did wear that watch ones at my daughters wedding. The other watch was for being a safe worker for five years, it a Swiss Army watch. I have wore it for over 20 years. It stopped working about three years ago. Took it in to see if it could be fixed. The shop sent it off somewhere and I got it back about a week later. The surprise was that they fixed it under warranty. I received that watch 8/15/1995.

As far as wedding ring goes I wear mine every day, have for the last 40 years. It looks like the Black Hills gold but the gold is from a little mining town in Colorado called Cripple Creek. My family is from that mining district.

I didn't get anything for retirement from the company or the union.
