Retirement gold watches

A friend got his wedding ring caught on the edge of the tray of a truck as he was jumping off, he still has the ring but no finger to wear it on.
I don't wear one as I don't like the feel of rings on my fingers, I tell SWMBO it improves my chances at discos, having said that she very rarely wears hers either.
Silicone rings are an excellent choice for anyone who works around machinery, I have these and like them: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07571T8P9/

I don't wear a watch or wedding ring. I didn't wear them before I retired, either.

Same here. Wife knew I didn't like jewelery when we got married, she only asked that I wear my ring on special occasions. A reasonable request, and I do.
Haven't worn a watch in decades. Only time I ever did was when I had a job that entailed travel, and it was necessary to make plane connections, etc. Stopped wearing one after I left that job.

I never got any sort of retirement gift per se. When I retired my employer did sign my company vehicle (PoC toyota turdra) over to me. I don't think it was intended as in insult, more that they didn't really want it back. I sold it for $3500 to some guy who ended up totaling it 6 mo. later.

In essence your company gave you $3500. That's not too shabby and sure beats the heck out of a watch.

I got some high grade wall clocks, one at 30 years and another at retirement a year later. I got very quickly tired of hearing them chime. Haven't run them in probably 18-20 years.

It has been almost 8 years since this thread started. Glad someone brought it back to life.
I am back to wearing a watch. Use it to monitor my activities. It is a IWatch. Along with activities it gives a lot of information. My phone stays in my pocket.
As for a ring. Mine has been in a jewelry box for over 50 years. Almost lost a finger when it got caught on a parts basket. Hasn't made a difference in our love for each other. Will be 57 years this year.
My retirement watch is still in it's original case. Just as shiny as the day I got it. Not sure it works.

Give me a Timex, it keeps on ticking! (accuracy is good enough 4 me).
LOL, not timing for lunar orbits.
Also very affordable. LOL.

On Timex, I knew the person that did the waterski commercial "keeps on ticking".
Commercial was shot at Cyprus Gardens.

Similar situation for me. I was military aircrew when I got married so never wore it. Once I got out, I put it on, but my skin and the ring were not compatible, so it went in the box. Really don't need it to remind me that I'm married. (44 years next month)

My retirement gift was a really nice model of the aircraft I spent 20 years working on.

I've got and wear my company supplied watch (for 25 years of service) 24/7. The only time it comes off my wrist is IF I remember before a shower. It is a yellow (I wont call it gold) Seiko with an inscription on the back with my name and the date I was eligible for it. November 2010. I still work for the company, but I haven't worked in the winter for them since 2010.

Yep, that was my thought too. Salary could have been better, but the swag was good there. Didn't really want a watch anyway. No complaints.
