GUESS WHAT?

I went by my dealer around noon today and Mahindra had just called. They are going to provide a new short block and I will have to cover the labor. Paperwork has to be forwarded and signed so it will not happen soon, but at least things are moving.
Many thanks to all the people who have taken an interest in this situation and offered comments and help.
My dealer is going to work out payments for me and hopefully in a few weeks I will have a running tractor again.
Thank you Mahindra for caring enough about your product to help.

I will follow up with progress as it happens.

shame it took a dump right after the warranty was up....

i was thinking you paying for labor was a joke on their part but after rereading the thread i guess it's better than the alternative...

Wow, jasper, when you began this thread oh so many months ago I was pretty sure I smelled a rat............some newb had bought a new tractor, never bothered to check the fluids or such, ran it like ****, it failed, and now looking for sympathy.

Not the case at all it would appear.

I've gotta hand it to you here. I don't know if I could have kept that cool a head and such a forgiving attitude considering all that's occurred here in your case. I'd be rather....uh.....****** off!

Here's to hoping you get back a much better tractor than the one you originally bought.

With all things considered I just wanted some help resolving the issue. Looks like I got a lot from the readers of this site and to all who pitched in (pro or con) thanks. When I first got the tractor I was very pleased with it in spite of a few problems, then when the engine went, not a happy camper. Hopefully this will resolve the problem and I will have a tractor that will last for my grandkids to use.

JasperAB, just curious, what dealer did you buy the tractor from new?

To be that close to warranty coverage and to suffer such a catastrophic failure, I am wondering where the breakdown was? Mahindra has a pretty good rep for handling issues so why has the dealer/district rep balked so much about an obvious and serious failure?

Is there any chance you bought a tractor that wasn't actually "new" from someone who sold it as "new".......? A reposession maybe? That might help explain the problem here especially if it had experienced poor treatment before you took posession of it.

Anyway, just curious as I try to figure out the secrets in this squirrelly odd story as they play out...

If you go back a read this and ALL threads related to this you will find he did NOT buy it new. He is the second owner and the previous owner's maintenance is questionable. The dealer is listed in a thread somewhere too and the OP has been very clear that the dealer was doing the best that he could.

Ok, the hr meter shows 186 hrs. Are you saying that is inaccurate? If not, what maintenance scenario do you see that could possibly explain the problem?

What kind of mistreatment do you envision that would mess up the rods in a properly set up engine in 186hrs? I guess coasting down a steep hill in gear with the engine wide open and then popping the clutch would do it.... What else?

Larry... I simply stated that the questions he asked were answered in the threads. I cannot and will not speculate to the validity of the statements. He DID say he was the second owner. He DID say that there is question to the maintenance of the tractor by the first owner. If you would like answers to the questions I would ask the person(s) that said them rather than the person who referenced to them. :)

I bought the tractor from a neighbor who is a full time fireman going through a divorce. It had 48 hours. I don't know how the firemen around you maintain their equipment, but here it is a top priority. (as with most if not all departments).
He used it while building a new home, I use it to mow, plant food plots, blade the road in to the house, and the roughest use was cleaning out a couple of ditch crossings between fields. Same thing I have been using my old MF230 for the last 15 years. It still runs and the only maintenance I have ever had were water pump, radiator, seat, and a PS cylinder.
My dealer is still waiting on Mahindra to follow up. They are going to call-again!
