I have a 725 with the 8hp kolher with electric start. Switch is worn out, going to replace it with a simple on/off switch and a push button start. The old switch has a 5 pin plug + a ground pin. How do I tell what wires do what?
Thanks

Take a testlight(or a voltmeter) and determine which one is live to the battery. Next flash a jumper wire from that one to each of the others one at a time to see which one is the start. The others must be for ignition/accessory or whatever other circuits your machine might have, and can probably all be hooked together on the load side of your new switch. You may be able to tell by the size of the wires. Larger wires usually indicate battery/charge system, start terminal. Smaller ones for ignition and other circuits. Not sure what a 725 is, or how many circuits might be associated with a key switch, but a ground is usually not necessary on most machines. Once you identify the battery and start wires, the rest should be self explanatory.

You can find the wiring diagram here: Service // BCS America

Go to the Tractor Parts List for the 725. Kind of hard to read but may be better on a bigger screen and / or printed.

Thanks, Got it done today. Mounted the switches on the handle bar, everything seems to work fine.
