Rhubarb harvest time

I hope it doesn't grow down here, that shiite was godawful. :licking:

Heck we just ate it raw out of the garden. Used to have contests to see who could eat more without making any faces lol

I forgot to ask, my patch is 4 or 5 years in it's spot but just keeps sending up seed pods constantly I cut them out but plants all send more right out. 2 or 3 of them are 8~9 years old and grow nice while 3 or 4 of them are 5 or 6 years old. the younger plants just dont seem to grow or produce much. They are all planted along the south side of the back garage and get roof runoff so plenty of water. the barn once was a steer barn with dirt floor so ground is good.

The plants all also do not turn RED like the old ones my sister & mom had. These ones just stay GREEN and like I said they shot up Seed Spikes constantly, are there Different Strains maybe? I think my plants all came from Wallymart or other box stores as purchased plants in pot.

I left the rhubarb behind when I moved and haven't has a chance to plant any here. The GF wanted to make a strawberry rhubarb pie last weekend and we could not find any in the grocery stores. Today while returning from planting geraniums at some local cemeteries our neighbor put up a sign saying fresh rhubarb, go figure.

My mother use to give us kids a small bowl with sugar and several fresh stalks when we were in Newburg.

Grandpa said years ago he found his plants growing in a ditch out in the middle of no where. He can't get around good enough to do much anymore but he used to make rhubarb wine.

I'm trying to grow rhubarb here in France. It grows well in Scotland so I imagined it would not like too much sun. I planted it in partial shade, but it does not do well. Any tips?

Can't find sunshine records for Scotland but London has 1500 hours per year. Our local records show we have 2250 and it is very harsh because of lack of pollution. I don't think too much sun would be a problem

Rhubarb seams to love New England and New york. We tend to get plenty of rain in the spring, maybe that's the difference.

I've got a big patch of sort of feral rhubarb. We make a few pies, but can't give away the rest.
