Ridgid Pipe Wrench Warranty Problems

FWIW, these are the pics I was going to send them.

I'll let you guys be the judge as to how much this tool was used or abused

The lower jaw support looks like it has a defect where it broke. I got a set of Al pipe wrenches from HF years ago that had soft jaws. Worthless. Maybe theyre better now. Id tell Ridgid that youve told 100,000 of your closest friends about their picayune warranty policy and will be dealing with Craftsman from now on.

I'd just buy the replacement piece and be done with it.After all,you did sort of get the wrench for free......AND,did you ever price a Ridgid aluminum pipe wrench.....NOT CHEAP!!!!!!! go ahead and get the part to fix it

I ve had aluminum ridgid wrenches for years and yes abused them , never had a problem, put had other ridgid things break and got fixed for free! :thumbsup:

Simple, put it in a $5.00 post office box hand it to the mail man when he shows up and wait for a new tool.

Ray, If I lived in your area, It would be no problem to spring by their place in Elyria, where they want me to send the tool.

The thing is, there doesn't seem to be any place there to take broken tools, or buy parts.

They want to do business by mail.

I tried to buy rubber feet for my pipe vice, the shipping costs were high. And, there is no other option. They will not let me pick them up.

Any time I have problems with Rigid stuff I just stop by the nearest plumbing wholesale supply and tell them what I want. I have never had them pass on warranty stuff, and I don't do much business with them. Every plumber I have ever seen has Rigid pipe wrenches so they must be good.

Come on guys;you all know this is how manufacturers get out of their "life time" warranties. Force the purchaser to return the broken, bent, mis-shapened tool to the manufacturer's addy. They know going in, most people will just say "to h&!! with it, I'll buy a new one". Problem solved, and they continue with their "life time" policy, none the worse for wear :laughing:

How did you every break a 36" steel pipe wrench!!Must have had a huge cheater on it.
Been a pipefitter for 40 years,used Rigid all that time and never saw one fail...we did abuse them too.

O it wasnt hard, i didnt have a 48" pipe wrench. Called a big cheater and 5" union to try and break. It broke, the wrench lol but ya they warranied it.
