but won't ww fluid corrode the wheel over time? What corrosion inhibitors does it contain? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

It doesn't corrode anything, IMO. If it did, we wouldn't use it to spray our car windows and have it drift back over the car roof, (at least I wouldn't /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif). If it corroded, it would have been history a long time ago, the way I figure it.

Also, if the tire is filled, the fluid is over the rim (recommended with calcium chloride anyway) thus leaving the rim in the solution and not exposed to the air (oxygen).

This make any sense?

WW fluid will not harm rubber. Your windshield wiper system is consisted mainly of rubber hoses to transfeer to windshield.

Corrosion factor..well go pop your hood and look under the reservoir and see if any of the sheetmetal is corroding like the sheetmetal under the battery tray.

I only asked about its corrosion inhibiting ability. The difference between it and battery acid are obvious. But is ww fluid any less corrosive than say,... water? I also have seen where it can damage some paint if left on for awhile. I am actually leaning towards ww fluid because of its availability and low cost. I will give up the pound or so per gallon. Just wondering if anyone has had it in for a few years and then taken the tire off to see if there was any rust damage. Thanks for all of the input folks, keep it coming.

Not sure exactly.. and may vary by product.. If you have a sg tester.. you can always use that and get a rough idea..

Yes, propylene glycol based automotive antifreeze would work well. Its just very expensive @ around $10/gallon.

I stopped at my local TSC yesterday (they just built a new one a few miles away! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif ) . I picked up a air/fluid adapter for filling tires. It has an air bleed already on it and threads onto a standard automotive or tractor type valve stem. It has a 3/4" hose connection on the other end for the drill pump.

Thanks. That thread went into exactly what my concerns were; using weights vs loading the tires. In my case, I think it makes much more sense for me to go with weights. With just my FEL and bush hog my tractor weighs right around 7000 pounds. For mowing and bush hog work I don't think I'd want another 1000 pounds or so. At times too much weight can be worse than not having enough. I do too many things with my tractor that require different setups. Not being able to remove the weight is too big of a draw back for me. Using fluid to load my tires isn't the answer for me. Thanks again.
