I don't know about the rest of the country, but down here in NC the fuel prices have risen almost 15 cents a gallon in the last week. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif
While I was getting non-road use diesel (now at 139.9) I asked the station owner. His response was, "We were told by our suppliers that the sharp increase is due to the blackout up north". /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif He said they always have good excuses for price spikes. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Now for my thoughts on the matter.....
In New York alone, more people walked than drove on streets with no power to operate signal lights. This saved fuel.
Without power at the stations, fuel could not be pumped.
Since fuel could not be pumped, there should have been a surplus that couldn't be pumped without power.
Due to said surplus, fuel prices should have come down to move the product to make way for fresh.
When power was restored, fuel prices should have dropped back to pre-blackout prices.
Anyone else notice the fuel price increase???
Did Canada and Mexico have similar increases since they are part of NAFTA????
Why haven't fuel prices dropped???
