/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gifYep, I'll bet you've seen sweeter homes. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif But it's also better than some I've seen. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Last report is that our area could see 20-30 inches of rain if Rita stalls out. All area lakes and rivers are at record low levels because of the dry summer so it seems that situation will reverse itself quickly.

The forecasters here believe that will happen--

Yep, the POlice chief of Houston just had a news conference and said the ENTIRE force is on 24-7 during this emergency.

Texas cops have pride, don't desert, and shoot to kill. It also helps that we are above sea level. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I hope this continues to be a delightful disappointment. So far, as of 5:00 P. M. in Houston the gust are about 20MPH and there is no rain. This is what the weather looks like from south of Houston looking north toward downtown. Just Cloudy.

Mike is that the way your office is all the time or just during sleepovers. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Sometimes, after a hard weekend, in the middle of the afternoon, after lunch, That cot would look mighty good.....ZZZZ..... /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

The first (light) rain bands are hitting Houston at 7:20 P. M.
This is looking SW the bands are moving from north to south.

The white building on the horizon on the left is the famous Katrina Evacuee Center - The Astrodome. All the Katrina evacuees were moved out of Houston earlier this week.

Mike,
Have to agree with the more data the better. Studies have shown that a concensus forecast works out better overall, averaging all the "possibilities". And when you have more data going in, a better concensus comes out.
The phone line problem is a real PITA. The phones went down in N.O. this morning, due to a loss of backup power a the main station. When 100+ T1s go down, there is a problem. We're all keeping our fingers crossed over here that the problems are limited. I think everyone is being a lot more cautious after Katrina.

Steve
