Update on my operating problem on Friday: called the dealer Saturday morning and described the problem; Monday he was at the tractor early afternoon. The fuel filter was pretty well twisted and when he removed it it was apparent the issue was caused by algae. The tractor had a full tank, from the dealer's treated supply, when it was delivered but God knows what was in the tank on its way from Korea.

At any rate, new filter, new tank of fuel, we'll see how it makes out this weekend. I'm really pleased with the dealer's response. Changed the filter, re-filled the tank and left me a bottle of fuel treatment to boot. All this done very quickly IMHO.

What brand of fuel treatment did he give you?

I think I'd get an extra filter to keep on hand. I try to always keep extra filters all of the time just in case

Bherr....are you going to make us all wait 'till the weekend to see if that fixed it?

Sheesh!

You might want to check the fuel cap. My Bobcat CT230 (Kiioti twin) creates a vacuum on the tank after running it for 30 minutes or so. I first noticed it after the tractor was shut off and I heard a faint hissing noise. After obsessing a while checking everything I could thing off, I unscrewed the fuel cap to hear a big sucking sound.

Well here we are on Sunday and I can report, because of real life setting in, only minor tractor usage since the fuel filter and fuel were changed last Monday. The tractor has been sitting outside in the sun with the temperatures pushing 90 for several days and I think that would encourage growth of whatever lived in my fuel tank.

I moved a stack of "punky" wood yesterday and the tractor never missed a beat. Pleats in the fuel filter were as straight as an arrow both before and after the work was done and the rev's stayed where I put them throughout the job. Now, the work, and associated "I wonder if the tractor can do this" session, only lasted a little over an hour, I think the problem is solved, but if anything changes I'll pop back up on the thread.

I really appreciate all the attention you guys have given this issue. There really is an incredible wealth of shared experience and knowledge on these forums. Thank you.

Bill
