Robin Engine Charging Capacity

The manual for my EH72 engine says the charging capacity is either 15 amps or 30 amps. Anyone know how to tell the difference without taking it apart? Jack, are you out there?

My 22 hp Robin came with a 30 amp voltage regulator which didn't last very long and was replaced under warranty. The replacement didn't last either. I worked with Jack thinking it might be the charging coils. The output of the charging coils should be 36~40V AC at 3600rpm.

The 30 amp voltage regulator is over one hundred dollars the 15 amp voltage regulator is about $20. I bought the 15 amp regulator and have been using it with out problem.

The 30 amp regulator is about twice the size of the 15 amp regulator. The part number of the 15 amp is 263-71901-01. The part number of the 30 amp is 263-719-02-A1

A little correction though, the AC output from the charge coil should be anywhere from 36-60V AC.

Most likely, this engine has a standard 15amp charging system. What is the engine spec?

The plate on the engine has the following number- e13*97/68SN4G2*2002/88*0019*00

There is also an engine family listed of 4FJXS.7202GA

and finally a product number of EH720DS00116306
