That's odd....on my way home yesterday I was thinking the exact same thing & was pondering which material to use. Styrofoam, closed cell, some kind of wrap material...........

Marine sound deadening material is basically closed cell foam around lead sheet as a sandwich. That stuff is not cheap but is very effective at reducing engine noise. Comes in half inch and one inch thickness and is rated for about 20-40% noise reduction in an engine room environment. Not sure how that would translate on a tractor where you are really just trying to stop reflected noise from the top cover.
