Don't know that they make any good asphault shingles any more? All junk.

Last week, a metal roofing guy told me that newer shingles use limestone in the mix to meet EPA madated lower petroleum levels in their products. He said that the limestone provides the base for mold to grow both on top of and under the shigles.


Has anyone else heard this?

A roofing contractor told me that several years ago. He didn't say it was an EPA mandate, but that they have replaced a lot of the tar in the shingles.
I did see wet and forget in Costco today.
